Jim Stein has been Chief engineer at Peralta TV since 1990. Jim has sheparded the TV station and production facilities through many changes in technology-from Low-def to high-def and beyond. He is a product of the Peralta Community College system, holding certificates in TV Technology and TV production from Laney College. On his breaks, Jim tends the department’s flower and vegetable gardens, providing flowers for set decoration and salads for departmental events.
Michelle Lee brings a lifelong love of dance, music, theater, travel, cinema and television to her duties as a Programming Director at Peralta TV. Prior joining Peralta TV in 2004, Michelle, who has a double degree in film and television, was a filmmaker and producer. Lee has been involved in many film productions, TV shoots and film festivals. She has worked in all aspects of film and television production, from small independent films to large studio movie and TV shoots. Michelle is an active member of International Public Television and a supporter of the local film scene. She has worked extensively with independent filmmakers, productions, and film festivals across the world.
Cecilia Vazquez is the Master Control Operator/Producer at Peralta TV. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Radio/Television from San Francisco State University. Prior to joining Peralta TV, Cecilia worked at KTVU and KPIX as an electronic graphics operator during live newscasts. She has 14 years of broadcast experience.
James “Jay” Calhoun is a Producer/Director at Peralta TV, where he created and developed PTVSports, a division within the station devoted to college sporting events. He is also host of “Peralta Matters,” the station’s monthly community affairs program. Over the past 10 years, Jay has been involved in high-level video and film – everything from weddings to major motion pictures – and has worked with some leading personalities, including Tupac Shakur, Michael Jordan, Dave Stewart, Michael Eric Dyson, Terry McMillian, Iyanla Vanzant, Mario Van Peeples, Tony Rock, Congresswoman Barbara Lee, Randall Robinson, Nikki Giovanni, Too Short, Kev Choice, and a host of others.
Josh Kahn has been working in local community media for over 15 years in a wide array of assignments, including as an instructor, producer, master control operator and technical director. He is an Oakland native and gained some of his skills taking media and multimedia courses at Laney College and Vista (now Berkeley City College).
Angel Hunter is the newest producer at Peralta TV. As a former student of the Peralta Colleges, she has worked at Berkeley Community Media as an instructor, KTVU, Yoshi’s, Jupiter, Artisan Production Group and a host of live bay area events in various production roles. Angel has also done national and international voice talent work and is becoming one of the voices you hear on Peralta TV productions. Her enthusiasm for production and skill for creating content has brought her back to serve the community that contributed to her career.
