District Marketing

jheymanJeffrey Heyman is the Executive Director of Peralta TV and has lead the Department of Public Information, Communication and Media at the Peralta Community College District since 1999. He has produced numerous programs for Peralta TV, and during his tenure the station has won a number of awards for its programming. Prior to joining the Peralta Colleges, Jeff was an information officer with the United Nations Department of Peacekeeping Operations where he headed media operations for peacekeeping missions in former Yugoslavia, Cambodia, Angola and Rwanda. A San Francisco native, Jeff studied broadcasting at San Francisco State University, where he graduated in Fine Arts. He also completed the Teacher Training Program there and holds a California Teaching Credential.


didi 1Diana ‘Didi’ Fitzgerald brings a multitude of skills to the many varied duties of her positions with Peralta TV, part of the Department of Public Information, Media & Communication for the Peralta Community College District. Scheduling guests and researching topics for the monthly talk show, “Peralta Matters”, Didi also handles publicity, keeping on top of the budget, and much more. Didi also can be found teaching communication courses as Adjunct Faculty/Visiting Lecture at Bay Area colleges and universities. Born in San Francisco, raised on the Peninsula, a graduate of UCLA, currently an East bay resident and former community college student who is devoted to education.


Herb KitchenHerbert Kitchen has worked in the Department of Public Information, Communication & Media, as the Marketing Coordinator since 1992. In his role, he serves the Peralta Community College District by leading and coordinating various public information, marketing, communication and media outreach initiatives, by assisting students, faculty, and staff with publicity of events and newsworthy college related activities. Herb has arned his bachelors and master’s degrees in Marketing, and has recently completed his doctoral degree in Educational Leadership.



Faiza Ali is an Oakland native who sees herself as an extended family member of the Peralta Colleges. Faiza was first a Peralta student, then a teacher’s assistant in Laney College’s Photography Department, followed up by being a video production contractor with Peralta TV before landing the full-time position with the Peralta Community College District Department of Public Information, Media and Communications. This opportunity combines all of Faiza’s creative and technical talents in commercial photography, video production, lighting, graphic design, and social media; as recognized by the National Council for Marketing & Public Relations with her Gold Award for photography. Faiza completed her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, and also has been on the other side of the camera as a hand model and actress. One of her many dreams is to land a principle role in a national television commercial.
